The things filling my hours lately (because obviously blogging hasn't been one of them):
- Sleeping. Right now, sleeping is my favorite friend. I love it and I am good at it, and I'm trying to spend as much time doing it as I can before a baby (who is already decidedly opposed to me sleeping well) joins us.
- Knitting Christmas stockings for our growing family (I'll share them here when they're finished). I've made it to the middle of number three.
- Drinking milk. All the milk I can, in any way. In milkshakes, bowls of cereal, ice cream – or straight up and icy cold. The baby and I want milk.
- Working. I've been weathering challenging storms at my day job, and attempting to write a freelance article or two.
- Strategically planning trips to the mall. Everything takes planning (including rolling over in bed, by the way). How much energy can I spare for this task/project/errand? How much will it take to complete? How long can I tolerate the mall without my feet swelling and me convincing myself I have preeclampsia (I don't) and having a panic attack?
- Working out, cautiously. I miss so much being able to push my body, to go for longer than 15 minutes on the elliptical – not to mention being able to do anything other than the elliptical.
- Laundering the teeniest, tiniest things. Baby washcloths, mitts, onesies. And then packing them away fresh in his drawers to wait. Every small rolled good-smelling thing makes me feel a little closer to his arrival.
- Making/ordering/wrapping Christmas presents. My goal is to be done with all of our Christmas shopping by the time our son arrives. I think I'm going to be able to do it.
- Putting together (or watching Kristie put together) furniture. The crib was easy; the new wardrobe in our room, terribly difficult. Fingers crossed the bassinet (next on the list) falls somewhere in the middle.
- Crafting carefully. A few projects for this blog that will be ready-made to share during our post-birth hibernation, but mostly things for my baby (from this post) that might or might not merit eventually sharing here. Knitting isn't hard, but some of the sewing projects that require time spent crouched on the floor take their toll on my 30-weeks-pregnant body. I have to take my time.
- Getting our home ready. Planning two diaper changing stations (one upstairs, one downstairs). Where to stash nursing pads? To keep the stroller? A rubber whale cover for our bath faucet. Choosing lightbulbs for his room. Clearing a hook for his very own towel.
