Inspired by a pretty cowl my friend Moira favored in December, I knit up a few of these for holiday gifts – and then one for myself.
The chunky horizontal rib is a quick knit and can be done in an evening. The blocking takes a little bit longer, but is worth it not to skip for added height and coziness.
You will need:
- 90 yards chunky yarn
- US 13 needles
- Tapestry needle
Cast on 30 stitches.
Row 1: K, P, * K, P, repeating from * until 1 st remains. Pass the yarn to the front, and slip the last stitch. (This will help keep your edge from rolling.)
Repeat row 1 until piece measures 23". Bind off in pattern and leave a long tail (approximately 20").
Block using preferred method (I like the towel method) so that piece measures 25" x 13". Stitch short ends together using tail. Weave in ends.
PS – This is my shirt (and it's currently on sale).
