There's nothing like a big, late-summer thunderstorm. I love the sunny days of course, but the rain can be just as much fun (and more refreshing).
Over here in New England, we had a few big storms last week that reminded me of this book from my childhood. (Did you read it when you were little, too?) I love the idea of doing something special to mark a storm. So while lightning flashed and rain poured down, my wife Kristie and I set up a little indoor summer picnic in the living room.
We opened up the sleeper sofa, and laid the coffee table with a spread of cheese, crackers, and fruit. And it felt like the perfect time to open a bottle of JaM Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon.
I tend to not think "red wine" when I consider summer beverages. But the easy-drinking JaM Cab is so berry-full, it surprised me as perfectly fitting for August. It felt very California-wine-tasting, despite the weather ;) Click here to find a store near you that sells it. (I really want to try their Butter Chardonnay and Toast Sparkling wines, too.)
We finished off our little thunderstorm picnic by turning up the A/C and starting "Stranger Things" over from the beginning. The BEST show, right?!
