My streak of Swedish-inspired winter projects is continuing! I love these felt ornaments -- easy enough to make a pair in one evening. (I actually made these while watching Alien 3. It definitely added that holiday spirit haha ;)
You will need:
- Blue felt
- Red felt
- A dala horse-shaped cookie cutter
- Stuffing
- Embroidery thread in white, green, black, orange, and yellow
- A needle with an eye big enough to accommodate the embroidery thread
- Gold metallic thread (optional)
Trace the cookie cutter onto the felt. Cut two horse shapes out of each color. Using pictures of dala horses as your guide, stitch designs onto one horse of each color. Once you're finished decorating them, use a blanket stitch to sew the decorated piece together with its corresponding back piece, adding stuffing as you go.
Once you're finished, thread a loop of gold metallic thread through the horse's shoulder, and hang them on your tree! If you have a dog like ours (who takes particular joy in chewing up stuffed animals) you may want to hang them high.
PS - Make stuffed dala horses!
