It's hard to believe that just a week ago, I was on a plane headed to Minneapolis! A visit to see our dear friends Amanda and Cayla was overdue. Since last summer they came to us, this time around I was more than excited to head to their neck of the woods! They made the absolute best tour guides, and I loved Minneapolis.
Their house was the cutest thing ever -- due in no small part to their sweet pugs, Parker and Scarlett, and all the attention Amanda and Cayla have put into decorating their home. I left so inspired by Amanda's vintage paint-by-number collection, all of Cayla's amazing records, and the little touches that made their home so special.
We started off the weekend by visiting two estate sales from the airport -- before even going to the house! It was my first estate sale experience, and I was hooked right away. I found a beautiful quilt for $12, and a few other treasures. It was then that I first started to expect I wouldn't be able to fit everything in my carry-on for my flight back...
We had a late lunch/early dinner at the Sassy Spoon, an entirely gluten-free restaurant where I ate some of the best GF food of my life! I am missing those taco-tillas like nobody's business.
We continued shopping at Amanda's shop, Tandem Vintage, where I picked up two vintage baseball t-shirts for Kristie (the Mets and the Twins) and a blouse for myself. We headed across the street to I Like You, a gift and homegoods store full of locally made products like cards, jewelry, and baby items. And who was holding court under a table but a 12-week-old French bulldog named Mavis! Too, too cute.
The next day (after Cayla made an insanely good brunch) we swung by Tandem again, and then walked across the Stone Arch Bridge, over the Mississippi River!
After viewing it from up high, we headed to the banks of the Mississippi for a few hours in the sun and water.
And I took a dip in the Mississippi in my favorite ModCloth bathing suit!
Later that evening, after relaxing at home for a little bit, we rode our bikes to the Riverview Theater, where we saw Pitch Perfect 2 (OMG, so hilarious) for just $3 a ticket! Pedaling home later that night felt like we were in Now & Then, you know? Riding bikes and ringing our bells...it was so perfect.
The next morning, we headed to Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge for brunch overlooking the river. I had an amazing gluten-free breakfast pizza, and we all enjoyed delicious tiki-themed cocktails. If you go, don't pass up the photo booth inside!
After brunch, we headed to the Sculpture Garden to explore the art. I loved seeing the Spoonbridge & Cherry in person!
We finished the weekend off with a few more estate sales :) Not pictured are the episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" we watched, putting on face masks and painting our nails, and cuddling with the pugs. It seriously felt like a four-day slumber party! I miss Amanda and Cayla already, and can't wait to reunite again next summer.
