On Sunday, Kristie and I drove to CT to spend time with my brother and my parents, and celebrate my dad's birthday. We spent the day looking at old family photos, playing with the dogs, FaceTiming with my sister (who is studying abroad in Paris), watching goldfinches at the bird feeder, and eating delicious food. It was so nice. As I get older, I keep realizing how lucky I am to be so close with my parents and siblings. I'm very grateful for those relationships. Anyway, I brought my camera with me, and I'd love to show you some pictures...
This is my brother Max's guitar case. The bumper sticker originally said, "Say Yes to Unions!" but one of his friends changed the U to an O with red marker -- it's kind of hard to see in this picture, but I love that it now says, "Say Yes to Onions!"
Even though it was f-f-freezing and there was new snow on the ground, the house was full of fresh flowers.
My mom and I hung up the "Happy Birthday" banner that has been used for every single family birthday since 1985!
Yup...this about sums us up.
My mom made the most delicious ice cream cake! It was a layer of brownies, then salted caramel ice cream, then crushed Oreos, then chocolate chip ice cream, then more brownies, and then whipped cream. And it was all gluten-free!
I brought Irish cream French macarons I'd made the day before. Check out the recipe!
It was no surprise camping trip, but I think he had a pretty good birthday :)
