I love sewing. Really, I do! It hasn't always been this way (trust me), but I'm starting to sew more and more of my own clothes and accessories. It's a learning process, though, and every once in awhile I'm really happy to take a break and find a fabric DIY that doesn't require threading my sewing machine. In fact, the only tool this no-sew sequin collar requires is a hot glue gun!
You will need:
- 1/4 yard each: stiff interfacing, sequined fabric, muslin (optional; I used it to subdue the bright whiteness of the interfacing, since it was visible underneath the sequined fabric)
- A hot glue gun
- Fabric scissors
- 1/2 yard cotton ribbon
Pull out a shirt you already own with a collar shape that you like. Trace the collar onto the interfacing, muslin, and sequin fabric, and cut out the shapes from all three. Hot glue them together, and then glue the cotton ribbon onto the back like in the following picture:
Sorry for the quality of this one. Sometimes my house gets dark really fast, ha!
There you have it! Tie the collar on to add a little bit of extra sparkle to any outfit.
