Making a foldover clutch is the perfect way to use up the leftover faux leather from this project. I made one just like this for my sister for Christmas, using brown faux leather and a really cute polka dot fabric for the liner!
You will need:
- Two pieces of leather or faux leather cut to 12" x 13"
- Two pieces of liner fabric (I used some vintage fabric I got at a tag sale) cut to 12" x 13"
- A 16" zipper
- Pins and thread
- A sewing machine with a leather needle
1. Lay one piece of leather and one piece of liner together, wrong sides facing. Pin the zipper face down at the top of the piece. Sew in place.
2. Put the other two pieces together the same way, wrong sides facing, to make the other side of the clutch. Then lay piece with the zipper on top of it, so that the two leather pieces are facing in. Pin the other side of the zipper facedown on the new piece. Sew in place.
3. Open the zipper halfway, and pin around three sides of the clutch, stitching in place.
4. Snip off the two bottom corners, being careful not to cut the stitches.
5. Fold inside out!
To put a nice fold into it, fold it where you'd like and place it under a pile of heavy books for a day or two.
