It's true -- turn on "Friday Night Lights" and settle in on the couch, and you can knit this headband in one evening! It's warm and cozy of course, but also cute enough that I don't mind wearing it in stores.
To knit this headband, you will need:
- 1 skein worsted weight yarn & scrap yarn in a contrasting color
- US 7 needles
- Darning needle
Cast on 40 stitches (or more if you'd like it to be wider). Knit every row until headband measures about 20 inches, or the circumference of your head. Bind off, and use the darning needle to stitch your short ends together. Then, using the darning needle and your contrasting yarn, stitch an "X" pattern over the seam.
Easy as pie, and doesn't require too much attention! I think this would also be a great last-minute homemade gift idea...
PS - Knit a braided headband.
