This made me giggle this morning. I'm most definitely on the left in that scenario, so I was excited to have the chance to try out customizable wrapping paper from Minted.
It's a very cute way to incorporate your family's annual holiday photos, but I decided to use old Christmas photos of my brother, sister, and me taken when we were little! My prediction: On Christmas morning my mom will cry, and then refuse to open her present so she won't have to rip the paper.
I started by selecting some holiday snaps and scanning them into my computer. I made them black and white in PhotoShop, and changed the resolution to 300 so they would print nice and clear (<-- especially important if you decide to crop the photos). I chose this design for the paper and used Minted's site to lay out the photos and make little changes, like the year. I also replaced the last name with "Merry Christmas." Since my parents have different last names (still married, my mom just kept her maiden name) and Kristie and I have different last names (same deal), that option felt more inclusive. Other paper designs I loved: this one and this one.
These old pictures made me so nostalgic! Little doll-faced Phoebe decorating the tree, me as a newborn wailing in my dad's arms in front of the Christmas tree, toddler Max freaking out on Santa's lap. There's one that's especially meaningful of my brother and I with our grandparents (Phoebe wasn't born yet). I think it's going to be nice to have that reminder of my grandmother with us on Christmas morning.
