In preparation for our five-year reunion a few weeks ago, I put together a quick backdrop and our dear friends Love & Perry Photography lent us their amazing photo booth set-up to use at one of the parties.
If you're in need of an easy DIY backdrop, I highly suggest you try this one.
You will need:
- Two sheets of wooden lattice
- A solid color sheet
- A few packs of tissue paper (our class color is green!)
- Floral wire
- Scissors
Layer a few sheets of tissue paper and cut them into a square. Fold up the square accordion-style, and wrap a piece of floral wire around the middle, leaving the ends of the floral wire long. Trim each end of tissue paper into a rounded arc. Gently separate the sheets of tissue paper, fluffing them up until the flower looks perfect. The two ends of floral wire should be sticking out from the back.
I got my lattice sheets cut down a little at Home Depot before buying them (I didn't need them quite as tall as they were) and had to overlap them a little bit when standing them against the wall just because of space restrictions. I made sure to hang a white sheet behind the lattice so that the bulletin board on the dorm wall behind it wouldn't show through. Then I simply threaded the floral wire attached to each flower through the lattice, twisting it at the back to secure it. I attached the flowers in a flowy pattern.
The photo booth was a big hit, and I loved how easy it was to make the backdrop. Now if only we had gotten more pictures of us actually looking sober normal...
PS - A 1980s-themed photo booth!
