Do you ever go through craft phases? Like figuring out all the different things you can do with Mod Podge, or using your printer for almost everything. Well, I'm currently wrapped up in a love affair with embroidery. Not to say I'm especially talented at it -- or frankly, even good -- but it's been inspiring me lately.
I thought I could make a pretty wall hanging with embroidery floss and my printer. I laid out a simple word using a chunky font in Photoshop (download it here), printed it on a 5x7 piece of cardstock, and used three different colors to embroider a geometric pattern.
I feel like it's a good combination of modern and handmade, and it was an easy project for a beginner like me. Almost a color-inside-the-lines version of embroidery!
Check out a few other projects that use embroidery thread: a festive table runner, heart-shaped elbow patches, and banners for Mother's Day and Father's Day.
