To celebrate my dad's birthday (which was in March, and a big one) and Father's Day, my mom, brother, sister, Kristie and I hatched a plan to surprise him with a camping trip over Father's Day weekend!
He thought we were meeting up to go for a hike in the Berkshires this past Saturday when we led him to the campsite that we'd spent all morning setting up. My mom had smuggled his tent and camping gear to us earlier in the week, and our sister came in that morning from New York City where she has a summer internship.
It was surprisingly cold but so so beautiful, and we had so much fun talking, cooking over the fire, drinking, and playing ladderball. My dad was definitely surprised! It was great to spend time with my favorite people in the whole world. I would happily live with them in the forest for the rest of my life.
My parents' dog Chance was along for the trip too! (Samson was having his own little vacation at our favorite boarding place. We need to work on his recall skills some more before having him off-leash in the middle of the woods.)
In case you may be wondering why there aren't any pictures of like, my dad for example, it's because I was using my camera primarily to film a little video which I will hopefully share with you later this week! He and my mom are in that plenty.
PS - Sew a "Yay Dad" banner, great Father's Day gifts, and travel tips you'll actually use.
