Did you know I have a basement office at work? I don't mind it, but plants don't like it at all. It gets direct sunlight for maybe 45 minutes a day. After going the faux plant route in our bedroom with success, I decided to try it at work, too.
My office decor doesn't exactly have a particular theme going (mostly just messy...my work spirit animal is pretty much Liz Lemon), but I'm always a fan of succulents. I found a couple of fake ones at Joann Fabrics, and decided to use tennis balls to create hanging planters.
To make your own, you will need:
- A fake succulent
- Paint
- A tennis ball
- A sharp knife
- Craft jute twine
- A hot glue gun
Cut a hole in your tennis ball. Paint it and let it dry completely (I used black paint, but you could also do a coat of white as a "primer" to cover up the color of the tennis ball, then whatever colors you want). Make an incision at the top of the tennis ball where you'd like the jute to hang. Pass a knotted loop of jute through the incision. Hot glue the fake plant in place.
Hooray for semi-stylish office decor that you don't have to water or take care of at all!
