I had lots of leftover fabric from using this tutorial (I opted for sewing instead of Stitch Witchery) to make Kristie an iPad case for Valentine's Day and I loved the look of the two fabrics together so much, I wanted to make more! Aside from modifying that tutorial to make a matching case for my Kindle, I also made another little thing for Kristie: a reversible mason jar cozy. She's been taking hot chocolate to work often during these cold mornings (using her Cuppow), and this little insulator makes it more manageable to hold the hot glass.
To make one, you will need:
- Two strips of fabric (3" by 11") of wool felt and faux suede (I found mine at Joann Fabrics)
- Pins
- A sewing machine or basic sewing skills and a needle and thread
Pin the two strips of fabric together. Sew around all four sides.
Wrap the cozy around your mason jar tightly. Slide it off, holding the two ends in place. Pin and sew the ends together. This might be a bit awkward, but try different orientations of the cozy until you can sew the ends together without the rest interfering.
Make a cup of coffee and enjoy!
PS - Our redecorated front porch! It was finally warm enough to spend some time out there this past weekend. I can't wait for a summer full of wam mornings!
