When my friends came to visit for Bag Day, it was exciting to put together a couple festive snacks -- especially because two of us are gluten-free. Glutino sent me a bag of their peppermint yogurt-covered pretzels, and Kristie made a batch of peanut butter chocolate Chex mix.
The pretzels did not last long, trust me. They were delicious! If you're gluten-free like me, I'm sure you've had that moment where you're eating a GF replacement product, and all of a sudden panic and check the label because it just tastes that good. That's been happening to me a lot lately, and these pretzels were no exception.
Okay, here's the important question: Would you call this Chex mix recipe "muddy buddies" or "puppy chow"? It seems like everyone raised in the North calls it the former; Kristie and her family all refer to it as the latter. Either way, it's delicious.
To make it, you will need:
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/3 c. peanut butter
- 1 box rice or corn Chex
- Confectioner's sugar
- Red and green M&M's (optional)
- 1 gallon size Ziploc bags
Melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter slowly over low heat, until just melted. Pour over the Chex and stir until the cereal is coated. Pour half the mixture into a Ziploc bag; add confectioner's sugar and shake until mixture is coated. Repeat with remaining half. Add a handful of red and green M&M's to make it extra festive.
Even Samson couldn't stay away from the snacks! Check out this outtake below...gosh, he's cute.
