After spending all that time (and a little money) this summer turning our front porch into a useable, attractive space, I couldn't help but look at the other areas of our house that might be in need of a some attention.
Starting with...our bedroom!
I'm happy to get this room done primarily because it'll be the easiest. We've kind of got that modern, demi-masculine, geometric, industrial (am I boring you yet?) vibe going on...at least I think we do. I'm still enjoying the beautiful gray color on the walls, my reading nook, and the Urban Outfitters quilt my aunt and uncle got us for a wedding gift (I love that damn quilt!). Comparatively, the next goals are pretty simple...
1. Finish the gallery wall above our bed. (Recognize that print? Another very generous wedding gift.) I've already taped off a border, now we just have to hang the pictures and trinkets we've collected for that space, and maybe find a few more to fill the rectangle.
2. Paint my dresser white and get new hardware (I'm thinking brass or gold-colored knobs). Also find a print or mirror to hang above the dresser.
3. Retire the Emily Dickinson poster in the reading nook and attach a wire basket to the wall to hold a book or two and a succulent.
4. New lights! I'm imagining brass swing lights attached to the wall with vintage-inspired bulbs (one over each nightstand).
5. Organize my dresser. We have an old record player I'd love to bring up here and I also have a ton of jewelry to go through. I'd like to have this space be functional; not just a catch-all for things I don't put away immediately (which it totally is now).
Here are a few things I'm eyeing as inspiration:
1. A Haworthias plant // 10 Indoor Plants You Can't Kill, iVillage.com
2. I Like You illustration print // Rach Illustrates
3. Industrial Wall Mirrors // Urban Outfitters
4. Brass Swing Lamp // One Forty Three (Hello Lidy has a great DIY swing lamp similar to this!)
5. Grid Wall Bin // Urban Outfitters (no longer available online; luckily I've already found something similar at TJ Maxx for $10!)
6. Large Industrial Letters // Oh, Hello Friend
Okay, one more Samson pic...I can't help myself!
