It might not surprise you to know that I loved college. So much. The classes, the dorm food, the campus...and yeah, the parties (but mostly the classes). I went to Mount Holyoke and graduated with a major in English and a minor in anthropology. I love my alma mater! I discovered my favorite writers in the lecture halls, met women who would become my lifelong friends, and made plenty of amazing memories.
My mom and my aunt picked Kristie and I up from the airport last weekend when we got back from our honeymoon. After ten hours of travel, we elected to spend that night at my parents' house in CT. My sister is getting ready to go back to college for her sophomore year, and we spent a little while going over all the stuff she'd been preparing to bring with her. Wasn't that the best feeling? Having all your dorm things packed up and ready to go, the promise of a new year on the horizon. It made me a little nostalgic for that autumnal transition back to academic life.
When I got an e-mail from ModCloth announcing their new home decor items and started scanning the site, I couldn't help but daydream about my dorm rooms of old. I loved lots of bright colors and plenty of vintage. My roommates and I would troll local flea markets a few times a year and bring back tons of treasures -- lots of which still grace my home today. I wish I'd had a more cohesive design plan or idea though; sometimes my dorm room overlapped a few styles (and not always with the best results). If I could do it all again, here's how I'd decorate my dorm room! (...And I'd pay more attention in a few of those classes!)
