You watch "Shark Week," right? We You planned your honeymoon around it, didn't you? I know, I know...you're as obsessed with that special Discovery Channel week of education, information, and super cool jump-shots of Great White Sharks as we are.
Well, it's that time of year again. "Shark Week" is coming (dun-un...dun-un...dun-un).
I've loved the movie Jaws ever since my cousin and I sneak-watched it when I was nine. I (like every kid I've ever known) even wanted to be a marine biologist for a brief period of time -- I think between egyptologist and novelist. We'll have to wait and see what pans out career-wise.
Anyway, I developed something of an affinity for shark movies (still ruing the day we downgraded our cable package, therefore missing the SyFy premiere of Sharknado) and TV shows -- "Shark Week" in particular.
The ocean seems like a whole other separate world, one in which I have no first-hand experience, and is therefore hypnotizing. And, unfortunately, it's a world that might have an expiration date at the rate humans are going. I'm going to enjoy watching it while I can, and hope that "Shark Week" continues its mission of education and conservation.
So, stock up on a few "Shark Week" essentials from around the web, and tune in to the Discovery Channel on Sunday, Aug. 4.
