i can't tell you how great this event is. these people are truly inspiring. our family, like so many, have had a brush with breast cancer + luckily overcame it. our women are well, and i'm so grateful for that every day. (i kept sunglasses on for most of the event because i couldn't stop the tears! it restores my faith in humanity to see so many people come together to support one another.)
it's important not to forget the struggles + challenges so many women, men + their families face every day because of breast cancer, and do what we can to help. please consider supporting ct breast health initiative or finding a similar event in your area.
my sister phoebe + i ran the 5k portion, then met up with our mother + aunt to walk the 4k. the weather wasn't the best, but everybody's moods were high! afterwards, we picked up our dad + headed to get some (gluten-free!) crepes for lunch here.
lots of people gathered to watch the 4k walk from their windows, front lawns, + driveways
two little girls even brought their pet bunny out to say hello to the walkers!
