today is abraham lincoln's birthday! the above is my very favorite quote of his. i ran across it when i first started blogging. that was a time colored by such excitement + insecurity (i mean still, it's so tough to know if i'm doing a good job...but i'm learning to rely more on my own judgment + opinion, which is opening a new world of confidence). anyway, i found this quote right around the time i saw lincoln. i continue to feel inspired + reassured every time i read it. i'm a longtime believer in the power of hard work (+ play) in all parts of my life: my day job, my relationship, my side projects, this blog. so let's hustle! get up early. stay up late. make plans. prepare for difficulty. allow yourself to be happy, creative, silly. work hard. laugh harder. + we can make our own good things!
