my little sister had her first birthday away from home a few weeks ago! it's hard to imagine that she's 19 now when she's still four years old in my mind. i'm so proud of her. she's doing awesome at school + having a great time.
i had pinned a really cute diy from oh happy day a few months ago, and phoebe's birthday was the perfect occasion to use it! jordan's post has 25 pdf's you can download and email to different people. each pdf is one postcard -- a design on one side, blank on the other. every person who receives a pdf prints it out + writes why they're happy the person in question was born on the blank side, along with the birthday girl/boy's address and sticks it in the mail!
here's the best part. when the birthday girl receives all the postcards, the designs fit together like a puzzle with a special birthday message.
winter storm nemo threw off the arrival of some of her postcards, but (almost) all of them eventually arrived + she brought them all home to her birthday dinner at our parents' house so we could put them together.
she got birthday messages from her high school friends, our brother + his girlfriend, kristie + i, aunts + uncles, a ton of cousins, and even our grandpa. our friends and relatives wrote their messages on all sides of the cards, printed them out on different color paper, + even did a collage or two! the messages were so sweet and phoebe really loved them. the whole thing was a perfect patchwork message of love for her.
here's the link again! thank you jordan.
(i took the photos in this post on my blackberry so the quality's not the greatest, sorry! gotta leave the camera at home every once in awhile.)
