i love, love, love buying things for my girlfriend. she's stoic + sweet about money, not really ever getting anything for herself + so it feels good when i can afford do it -- especially when i really hit the nail on the head + get her something she truly loves. so, if it were up to me and my wallet, i would get her everything on this list for christmas. in fact, this would probably serve well as a gift guide for your boyfriend, sister, husband, brother, wife, or southern-transplant-to-new-england-butch-lesbian-fiance. or someone who just likes this kind of stuff. you know, whichever applies.
1 // every southern lesbian i've ever met has a major thing for dolly parton. seriously. i love this tour poster by kii arens (via fab) so much, i probably wouldn't even mind having it hanging in my house!
2 // we're making more + more travel plans for the upcoming year, and after a weekend in nyc, the need for a stylish, comfortable backpack has become clear. i think this one from the herschel supply company (via madewell) would be perfect.
3 // for some reason (ahem...samson) there is always a dearth of socks in our household. during the winter, all kristie wants on her feet are what she calls "new england socks" -- you know, those super-warm wool socks that you can wear around the house instead of slippers, or in your snowboots for ultimate warmth. i like this wigwam pair from madewell + i think she would too.
4 // formalwear has taken center stage more often in our lives lately -- whether it's an evening at the ballet or a swanky work party. i love the versatility of this tie from pocket square clothing.
5 // my girl has a big thing for compasses + is actually planning her next tattoo to be a compass! this one from terrain, nested in cherry wood, is rustic + handsome. i could see it in a place of honor on our bookshelf, or coffee table.
6 // this dopp kit from izola is super sturdy + water-resistant. perfect for some of our more adventurous travels!
7 // kristie loves her ipad (last year's christmas/birthday/valentine's gift) but someone (me) has a habit of dropping it, or spilling things on it, or in general just putting it in danger. i think we'd all feel better with this from kaufmann mercantile.
8 // this is something we never think we need until all of a sudden we can't open any bottle of alcohol in the whole house, which is a problem + happens a little too often. plus, i think kristie would like it because it looks like a swiss army knife.
9 // i know she'd like the fragrance of this cedarwood + vanilla candle from the sydney hale co., but even better, it's made in her home state -- virginia!
10 // kristie has collected vintage + antique radios for as long as i can remember...our house is full of them. i think she'd make an exception and happily add this modern one from anthropologie to her collection.
