i'm getting really excited about a new blog project i have coming up soon...hopefully it'll be ready to launch tomorrow, so check back! the weekend is shaping up to be pretty darn good, too.
front + main, west elm's blog, featured a studio visit with sarah campbell this week. imagine my happy surprise when i recognized her cote d'azur pattern from an easy chair that was in our family room growing up! who knew we were so cool? seeing it brought back some really good memories. i wonder where that chair is now...
we've all seen the crazy amount of diy advent calendars floating around lately, but i found my favorite! you are my fave has a (super cheap + easy) puzzle box advent diy. i love it because it's not overly kitschy, + i can imagine it would actually look good on anybody's wall.
mimi thorisson starts every dinner party with ice-cold champagne. that's just one thing we can learn about how to be a french hostess from the french hostess. check out her q+a with sous style (and her great blog).
i got seriously misty-eyed reading "wild love," a post about the relationship between gertrude stein + alice b. toklas in design*sponge. there are so many lessons we can take from their life together, + the photos of their apartment are priceless!
erin from design for mankind offered some great advice (albeit, last year...i found it + love it anyway) about clothes shopping. if she sees something she likes, she asks herself if she loves it enough to hypothetically pay $100 for it. if not, it goes back. i love this idea! what a great way to cut down on clothes i'd only wear once or twice, + instead form a well-loved wardrobe.
another gem from last year...jonas peterson wrote a great essay about what a wedding really means. i highly recommend that anybody planning a wedding read this as soon as possible!
i love the tshirt that emma fexeus designed in cooperation with kellogg's special k to raise money for breast cancer research. 100% of the proceeds go to cancerfonden, a breast cancer research group.
if you missed the live video chat between joy from oh joy! + naomi from rockstar diaries, it's been archived on joy's blog! naomi's hair...i can't even.
i don't really like doing gift guides, because i want to feature too many things, and then i realize i forgot one that i love, and then i have to go back, or do another... anyway, i couldn't miss the bandwagon altogether, so i have a temporary pinterest board featuring gift ideas that i find amazing + lovely. (side note: i will accept any/all of these this christmas for my own self. please + thank you.)
this is my friend rob, + he has aids. at midnight last night, his new blog openly poz launched! openly poz tells rob's story, from his diagnosis to dealing with a variety of health hurdles to finding his true happiness. take a minute + check it out. congratulations rob!!!
