kristie and i originally weren't planning on having professional engagement photos done -- it just wasn't in the budget. that is, until the plans to have a friend snap a few casual pics fell through -- and brittney and shana stepped up. they're the married team behind love + perry photography, and had already agreed to shoot our big day (way back in january...i'm not kidding about my planning problem). fast forward a few months and we were having each other over every few weeks for drinks/zombie movies/dinner. not only did we get amazing photographers for the wedding, we got even better friends! anyway, brittney and shana gave us the most amazing gift by offering to shoot our engagement photos (including the photo of me in the about page).
so in late august, i put on my (old + hated) journalism hat and found out who owns the field where we take samson for walks. the sunsets there are incredible no matter what time of year, and in late august, everything was grass taller than us and a nightmare for allergy sufferers, but so gorgeous. i called and got the mowing schedule (i may or may not have told them i was the photographer). we managed to find a night in the next week that worked for all of us, packed up a picnic basket (goat cheese, hungry ghost bread + wine because of course), and headed out in the sweltering august heat. i swear to god i actually did my hair before this, but as soon as we stepped out of the car, everybody was sweating and frizzy. i credit brittney and shana's skills for making us look as good as we do in these photos! thank you, ladies, for providing us with these memories.
and because, months later, i still can't stop looking at the photos, i'm sharing them here again.
